Course Audience

The course is designed for teachers, lecturers and tutors teaching adult learners, particularly street food entrepreneurs who want to grow their business successfully.

For teachers and tutors the course will look at the importance of developing entrepreneurs’ innovation and enterprise skills, thereby assisting them in their new venture.

For those participating in this course, it will help them gain a better understanding of the logistics and strategy implications of moving to a fixed based operation in addition to further developing their entrepreneurial skills. The goal of the course is to help and assist existing street food entrepreneurs to grow their business successfully either through establishing a fixed base catering/restaurant outlet, or developing their product range for retail distribution.

The materials are designed for various uses. The course can be delivered as a complete curriculum or parts of it might be integrated to supplement other courses. All materials are provided as open source and each section of this course offers a variety of additional online materials such as videos or websites about the topic.

As some learners might want to learn the content (or just parts of it) individually, all modules and additional learning resources are provided online (see online version).

Teachers and tutors can also use the course on their own for professional development. Information about how we suggest the materials can be used are provided at the beginning of each tutors workbook for each module.

The course has been designed as a blended learning approach and Ideally can be used in a classroom environment supplemented with self-contained distance learning materials.

Classroom Course Components

The syllabus of the SFOFR classroom course is divided into six different units called modules, each of them focusing on different aspects of setting up a fixed based operation:

Module 1: Current market – understanding the ever changing market

Module 2: Possibilities – Exciting Times

Module 3: Business Growth & Expanding Operations

Module 4: Finance – it’s all about the money

Module 5: Legal Compliance – business grows: compliance grows!

Module 6: Strategy – it’s about what you know as well as who you know

Each Module has two different training resources:

  1. A Tutors Guide – this outlines the aims, learning outcomes and usage of each module.
  2. A PowerPoint presentation – again this is to be used in conjunction with the Tutor’s Guide, this is a suggested course and includes the materials and activities. If it is your first time delivering the course, this is a good starting point

Scroll to the bottom to download all 6 modules, the course curriculum and additional resources as a zip file.

Although the Street Food Success, What Next? classroom course is designed as a complete curriculum, each module can be used as a stand-alone session. Therefore, each module starts with a basic introduction about the topic which can be skipped if you use more than one module or the whole course.

You do not need to use the materials in any particular order. If you want to concentrate on a specific topic you can jump in at your point of interest – although using the whole course is suggested.

This classroom course is accompanied by an additional materials accessed online.
